What is the Difference between UI and UX

The obscurity prevails & is not only limited to the common people but also among some of the developers. People often confuse UI & UX as a single function, but in reality, UI & UX are 2 different functions having different job profiles. To start with the explanation let us first understand what the terms UI & UX stand for, respectively:

UI

UI is User Interface Design & UX is User Experience Design.  Both elements are crucial to a product and work closely together. But despite their professional relationship, the roles themselves are quite different, referring to very different parts of the process and the design discipline.

Where UX Design is a more analytical and technical field, UI Design is closer to what we refer to as graphic design, though the responsibilities are somewhat more complex.

Let us try to simplify this & understand it with the help of an example:

A car is a product of multiple designs, architectures, features & functions. It has a steering, brake, accelerator, seats, wheels, etc. These are the parts contributing to the design of the car that makes it appealing to the buyer. It is the first interaction. Similarly, the architecture, the wireframing of the website & the design of the website is the first point of interaction of the user with the site. This is User Interface Design.

UX

Next, User Experience Design is the feel & the experience, the user derives from the first interaction. Continuing with the car example, the comfortable reclining seats, leg room, power windows, smart car features, auto-pilot, help in enhancing the overall driving experience.

Similarly, your website speed, graphics, creativity on the web pages & the usability, define the experience the users will get while using your site.

The UX/UI Design of the application improves the user experience and customer satisfaction that ultimately helps increase the number of users of the specific application. Therefore, UX/UI Design plays an essential role in increasing your business & boosting your sales.
