Meditation

Meditation

Meditation, for centuries has proven to be beneficial for the overall well being of an individual who practices it regularly. While yoga helps you to reap numerous health benefits, meditation helps you gain control of your thoughts. Meditation and mindfulness induce a heightened state of awareness and focused attention.

Studies have found, regular practice of mindfulness can help relieve stress — as well as manage anxiety, reduce inflammation, and improve memory and attention resulting in enhanced IQ.

Question is, what are the basic exercises to start meditation? Well, you can simply be seated in a comfortable position, back straight, eyes closed. Inhale deeply, hold your breath for 4 seconds then exhale.

It is important to understand that you only focus on your breath & not let your thoughts wander. There are forms of pranayams too which can greatly help you with mind boosting therapy.

Hand exercises

Hand exercises

Your hands play a vital role in boosting your intelligence. If you combine couple of hand exercises to your meditation routine, it will work wonders & help your brain to activate neurons super-quickly. For starters, make a "V" sign with your left hand fingers & an "OK" sign with right hand fingers.

Now, quickly switch the signs i.e, "V" on the right & "OK" on the left, difficult right? Well, Practice! Similarly there are lot of hand exercises that you can try sitting leisurely in any corner of the house or office or anywhere.

Also, try using your non-dominant hand for your daily chores - it's a kind of exercise that helps forming new connections in your brain.

You also learn to apply solutions from past experiences to face fore-coming challenges while learning new skills.

Read differently

Read differently

I remember a popular quote from the infamous TV show Game Of Thrones, quoted by Tyrion Lannister "A mind needs a book, like a sword needs a whetstone"
You have got to inculcate the habit of reading & while you have made up your mind - it is advisable that you read something productive so you can implement the learning in your life.

When you read, your brain is doing a lot more than just deciphering words on a page. Reading is more neurobiologically demanding than processing images or speech. It’s a neural workout. As you read, disparate parts of your brain — such as vision, language, and associative learning — work together.

A quick tip to remember what you have read is to read out loud, read to someone - all this makes your reading process more practical & easy to remember.

Brain diet

This is something you should never neglect. A person is what he eats, this phrase is true to a larger extent because if you are eating foods that are rich in Omega Fatty acids & other nutrients that work as brain supplements, it helps your brain function tirelessly & effectively. Include Eggs, Fish, Nuts, Dairy products in your daily diet in some form, so that your body derives maximum nutrients from these & power your brain.
